The missing coping stones along the wall have been replaced, but with obviously different stones to the rest of the wall, however the biggest clue to finding this one was the bare patch of soil in front of the wall. It still took a little excavating to uncover it but that's me now completed all the Berntsen's in Northumberland...2!

Small world! It was us who visited this trigpoint just a few days before Walker Dan. We actually visited it twice... We quickly gave up on the first visit and drove to the nearest garden centre to buy a 7.5m tape measure. With the aid of the OS sketch map, we found the approximate location, then by systematically digging the point of my walking stick into the turf, managed to locate something metal beneath the grass. Digging down an inch or two uncovered a slightly larger than usual Berntsen. We'd never have found it without the tape measure!
