Narrow country roads, tricky to find somewhere to pull over. Pulled over into field entrance just east of T junction. Over gate and along hedge line running south west. Field just long grass, is overlooked by neighbouring property. After about 100 metres, pillar is visible on the right and there’s a narrow gap in the hedge just big enough to duck through to get to the next field and the pillar. Only view is across the field where it is standing.

Just managed to squeeze the car into the area in front of the metal gate, next to a house called Hill Rise. Over the gate followed the hedge on my right, through the very convenient hole! Unfortunately I managed to put my hands on a dry piece of gorse, prickles everywhere ugh. No views. Last of the day.

I'm not sure why this area is called a heath for I saw nothing that signifies that. Simply lush green fields scattered around a countrified suburbia. Climbed over a farm gate, then scrambled through a thorn hedge to find this pillar.

Bagged this one without research as we came from Hoads Hill. Did as previous log and used the gate opposite the cream house in the long lane, otherwise your on the wrong side of the hedge. Surrounded in thorn bushes but thankfully the hedging had been recently cut, but still a painful and bloody experience trying to get on top of this one. In good condition.

Writing this in Aug 2018. Just dug out an old map and found notes on a few trigs I did in 1998. I remember this trip well, on NY Day as part of a resolution to do more trigging, I got up early and drove around a circuit of six North of Portsmouth. This was the fourth, and my notes say, "Got cold wet feet in a waterlogged field walking up to this one. Sun rising beautifully through wintery trees" Get me, all poetic.
