Just missed the sunset from the trig point. This was my third trig today on way hime from the west. Mused that it would be a good view point for the aurora and just before logging this saw previous person logged had been up on 31/12/15 when there was a good showing later

What a way to end 2015, lovely path all the way to the trig so very suitable for a nighttime excursion - not too cold or windy too, shame I missed the Northern lights think I was a wee bit too early.

Log #182. Very enjoyable walk from public car park, just off the Cabrach road. Quite a prominent hill, seems to be just plopped in the middle of the landscape. The base of the pillar is very exposed, but looks to be no problems with leaning. The pillar is in good condition, but has had a plaque celebrating a local Girl Guides group's centenary affixed to the east face. The cap is missing too. Going by the very handy viewfinder displayed at the base of the fort, views are easily in excess of 30km. Fantastic hill. [ExP-149/MiP-3/Rev-2/BM-12/IS-13/Other-3]

Hill is called the 'Tap o' Noth' both locally and on the OS map. Splendid view from the top! a steady climb from 350m to trig point (563m). Good path from car park at NJ 480284. Vitrified Fort on the top with wells, used to be used as a fire look out point in the summers. Amazing views to Bennachie, Ben Rinnes, The Buck and possible to see the outline of the Moray and North East coast. Worth climbing.

Never mind plaques, putting a trig pillar here, on the walls of the fort was an act of vandalism. This is one that I would not mind disappearing, if it were not for the fact that moving it would do even worse damage. Unfortunately it is undercut and likely to fall. Great viewpoint however and I can understand the surveyors desire to use the hill. Hopefully the wind farmers can be kept at bay, but don't hold your breath.

Parked in car park at NJ 48047 28419, then followed footpath to summit. Had a walk along ridge to Hill of Noth. Good views.

This is my personal favourite trig, nice walk up to the top, interesting fort remains to examine and the trig standing out at the edge of the fort. Beautiful views all around.

Pillar is set on a concrete plinth on the rampart of the vitrified hill fort. Good condition although OS top plug is missing.

Tap o' Noth, OS station name, Tap Of Noth. Easy walk from car park or 3 hours walk from Huntly. The pillar is in good condition and secure albeit perilously on the edge of the summit. The Spider retained a replacement OS centre cap (17/09/2002) with cast raised font, that has since been stolen! The flush bracket faces south east. Remains of ancient fort on summit, info on net.

S7136 TP & FB. Secure, but balancing on the edge.
