Drove track to old bldgs currently being demolished, parked 70m to the E. Pillar sits on low headland giving extensive coastal views. Original centre cap retained, raised lettering; rear sight hole open.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 10th November 1955 costing £26.17s.1d. Flush bracket S8561 levelled for height in 1955. Computed as tertiary station NS04/T56 in 1956. Last maintained by the OS in September 1978. SITE VISIT: Approached from northeast. Parking at roadend, NR627208. Trig pillar in full view on small rocky top less than 100m away. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with raised large narrow letters. Flush bracket faces ENE, ~64°. Vented through SW sight hole. Long views to Islay, Jura and Gigha.

Beautiful sunny morning. Fantastic location. Seals and Eider duck just offshore. The seabird observatory is well worth a visit.

Very wet and grey day for a quick dash to the pillar for several of the QB family. Very interesting spot, but the weather prevented any views.
