Parked on road to West and followed Wolds Way most of way, then up field edge. Nice view from here, dry and sunny if cold

I parked in the large layby at West Heslerton Brow and took The Wolds Way east. The farmer has generously left a very wide scrub strip up the field boundary, so it's no problem to nip off the ROW. The pillar soon appears, nestled in next to a tree. It's in reasonable nick but has some damage - a big chunk has cracked near the base exposing the aggregates, there are cracks to the east face and it has a replacement cap. The views are stunning, it is a lovely place to be - and you are only off the ROW a few minutes and there's no danger of disturbing any crops or livestock.

Nah dah - last pillar in the Yorkshire Wolds and North York Moors - in fact the last in the triangle bounded by the A1, Newcastle and York. With squally rain fast approaching, found on hedge line. Ceramic cap but otherwise in tact.

With Trig Pillocksson. Inspired by Yoko Ono's Imagine Peace light culpture in Iceland to commemorate John, I made my own Rainbow 'imagine peace' trig chalk sculpture!

'Imagine Peace' John Lennon rainbow trig memorial Yoko Ono made a light beam memorial sculpture to John Lennon on an island in Iceland entitled 'Imagine Peace'. It is lit up from Oct9th Johns birthday through to 8th Dec, date of his death. HISTORY: Pillar completed 15th April 1951 costing £12.4s.0d. Levelled for height in 1952. Computed as secondary triangulation station SE97/20 in the Bridlington block during 1954. Last maintained by the OS in July 1984. SITE VISIT: Makeshift parking area to west side of Lutton Lane at SE910747. Approached from west then north. Followed mapped RoW eastwards until due north of trig then up east side of boundary fence to top. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre plugged with smooth brown resin. Flush bracket faces east, ~87°. Vented through west sight hole. Open outlook excent where obstructed by boundary hedges.

A short way off the Wolds Way. Came along east side of hedge in grassed field, avoiding cropped field. Pillar in fence line and easily accessible. Nice views to north.
