Lucky in the weather for the walk down to the end of Spurn..... misty but warm for mid-November and not much wind. Fair number of other walkers and birders around, but hardly any at the extreme end. A fascinating place.

Parked on the roadside and set off into the wind for a fascinating walk.. WW2 history and nature studies both catered for as we made our way to this fantastic landmark.Return trip back along the destroyed road and sandbank was in the dark.

Parked roadside at Warren Head, where gate closes the road off to the hoi polloi. Don't be suckered into paying for car parking here. Pleasant 6k walk down to the end, the lighthouse is the first building encountered, about 1km before the point is reached. A Grade II listed bldg, constructed 1893-5. Sports a couple of benchmarks.

(827) The Lighthouse wasn't open today, unfortunately, but all looking good after a recent-ish renovation. FB S2538 painted over and low down, but easily found. Nearly missed the pivot mark on the steps, before moving on.

Visible from a long way off; approached along the beach into the wind. The base of the lighthouse has been repainted and the vegetation cleared, so the Flush Bracket is easily seen.

Usually only log the blocks but lighthouses are special! As is this new island, last visited ten or so years ago. The rounded stump of the head says it all no more the sandy growing spit. An amazing place. Veiled sky moves in from the south to add to the dramatic whine of the wind in the wires and grasses. Bushes festooned with caterpillars of brown tail moths.

That bus service and stop from 2011 (see earlier visitor's photo) Don't think it's running anymore
