Good parking at 151144. Track up to mast avoiding cows. Due to long grass headed SW between woodlands through 2 gates. Immediately after 2nd gate climbed stile on right. Up faint path on edge of woodland to meet track that runs N through woodland. Round N end of lochan staying on track to within 20m of trig. Up to trig & back on to track which snaked downhill to motorway. Across M90 & back 500m E. Overgrown track/path E then SE climbing through woods. Edge of field to gate at start. Some bits of this route were great, I imagine all would be in winter. July so lots of vegetation.

Plenty of parking on the minor road to the east. Over gate and follow tracks to mast. Should have been easy from there but 30+ heifers spotted us and gave chase downhill. Back up by a circuitus route. Top is tussock and thistles but easy walking. Left money on spider to replace that I removed in Argyll 20 years ago - for the fairies. Long tour down through the trees as all the lower fields were full of inquisitive cattle.

Parked at Newbigging crossroads next to a derelict farm building, walked through Balmanno Farm, over the M90 & ever upwards. Fine display of (mostly yellow) flowers during this jaunt: celandine, primroses, daffodils, gorse (as evidenced by that delicious coconut aroma) and of course the humble dandelion (not a weed, and forever one of my favourites.) Pillar fine, cap remains in place, and just the north-east sight hole open.
