From the main CP across the causeway to the summit behind the Hotel. Not sure which is the summit.. and ruined building or the concrete base with a OS square

GR indicates the small square roofless building - no Bolt, Flagstaff or Lightning Conductor seen. ***4 Sep 2022 update. The OS Sketch shows the Bolt was on the roof of the porch, shown to the left side in my first photo. Unfortunately I don't remember if it retained its roof and none of the photographs posted here show it, so possible thwe Bolt is extant after all. The covered reservoir 30m away is a red herring and has no triggy connection.

GPS points to the ruined stone chapel in the centre of which, on the floor, is a possible flagstaff base slot. The bolt in the other photos is on a concrete slab of a "water tank", whose GR (unless the GPS was really bad today), some 30m to the east. Raining far too hard to hang around and hunt for this inside the chapel or on its walls.

I'll have to take everyone else's word for it that this is the TP. Concrete square with circle and triangle shapes on floor of old chapel. Could be anything really. Lovely sunny October day - but beach and island packed as a result. Pint at the Pilchard then paddle back to the mainland as the tide was coming in very quickly. (Photo t/f)

According to info board, chapel is long gone, ruins are the Huer's building (the Huer used to direct the fishing boats). Dusty's triangle is on concrete base a few metres to the east. They seem to be pipe ends, not bolts or any other OS marker I've seen. No GPS this weekend so can't say whether at expected location. Popular spot with busy beach on a sunny Spring Monday, £ 1.30 for an hour parking, could be difficult in summer. Tidal island.

SX76 T149 Bolt. Found Square Concrete Slab with circle & triangular shape in middle of roofless chapel. In each corner of the triangle lies a bolt/rivet. Another lies in the dead centre. I have never seen anything quite like this but guess it is the triangulation point. A Flagstaff & Lightning Conductor are also given as SX76 T149 but no sign of these on site.

The walls of a small square building stand on the summit of Burgh Island off the South Devon Coast to the west of Kingsbridge. The trig station consisted of a bolt, flagstaff and lightening conductor. The site was reached from Challaborough Bay to the north by means of the coast path, the tidal footpath across the beach to the island and the footpaths on the island itself. The building has no roof apart from over the doorway. I reckoned the bolt should be near the doorway. However a quick glance on the roof did not reveal it. There was no sign of a lightening conductor. In the floor in the centre of the chapel there were holes in the concrete which I thought may have been the site of the flagstaff. The summit of the island has a fabulous view of the coast to the north and south. Bigbury-on-Sea and Challaborough Bay are on the mainland to the east. Crossing to the island involved wading through knee high sea water on the beach causeway. The Pilchard is an interesting old pub overlooking the beach from the island. The beach was full of holiday makers. The Art Deco Burgh Island Hotel is a Grade II listed building. Burgh Island formerly had on its summit the chapel of Saint Michael-de-la-Burghe. By 1888 only the foundations of the chapel remained, upon which a small “pleasure-house” had been erected. It was used as a look-out during the Second World War.
