Came today for Festival and check on this. Grabbing Benchmark as could grab this no problem and going to get bolt once spoken to Tower Captain or Secretary for the bell ringers.

Here this afternoon prior to the FA Vase Quarter Final at Highworth Town. There was a wedding rehearsal going on in the church so access to the tower was not possible. Found the bench mark and then the geocache.

Revisit: I did have time to find the BM this morning, so score increased to 3. There was a service in progress, so still no access to the tower.

Church. No access at this time of night. Couldn't find the BM in the dark. Tomorrow should be my last day on the Thames Path so I'll probably not come back in the morning.

I first visited here on 16 April 2012 for a friend's wedding, not realising at the time that there was a trigpoint above my head! This time I brought along my newly-acquired heli-cam to hover above the tower rooftop. It was difficult to get the heli-cam close enough to see the rooftop in any great detail thanks to the supporting wires for a metal metal cross mounted in the centre of the rooftop. The cross appears to have a wooden base which may possibly be covering the bolt. Either way, I could not see it. Photos to follow...

The unusual dedication is to St Sampson, believed to be a Welsh saint with Breton and Cornish connections. Date of building is unknown but major reconstruction took place in 12th C. I could not find this bolt - OS website gives no clues to its location or format. There is a cut benchmark with bolt logged on bench-mark.org website although it is not listed in the OS benchmark database. Do trig point bolts take the form of a cut BM? If so perhaps the NE angle of the tower is the location of this one.
