This really is a beautiful mountain. The last third of the walk was tough (for me), but overall it is a brilliant ascent, with glorious views at the top on such a beautifully clear day. Up from the second Moulin car-park, initially through sun-dappled-lit woodland, then out across the moor to reach Loch a Choire before tackling the very steep stone-stepped path. Near the summit saw three ravens at close quarters, which I took to be a good portent. Not too busy today; I had the top to myself and spent a good half-hour up there enjoying the whole experience. Pillar has an open cap, and all 4 sight-holes are closed. During my time on Ben Vrackie, I met at regular intervals, an American man, a Spanish woman, a Northern Irishman and a local Scotsman with whom I had the most engaging and sparkling conversations. A fine bunch of 'mountaineers' up here today. It's got to be a 10 for popular Ben Vrackie.
