Arrived Poppleton via 05.32 M5 Earby to Barnoldswick 05.50 M6 Barnoldswick to Skipton buses, 06.18 Skipton to Leeds 07.32 Leeds to York trains on day off. Block & Rod easily found, Rod not quite flush with concrete block.

Arrived by train in York yesterday for a city break. Came with "town" bike. Used off-road cycleway from YHA at Clifton bridge. Some prior research suggested this block and one beside the A19. A few minutes walking along lane to spot square hole in hedge bottom and block. A bit of soil to brush aside.

(2824) Drove most of the way - parked at the bend. Short walk from there to the block. Came prepared, but tools not needed, as block still largely uncovered. Some light soil build up need to be removed only. Rod marker flush with the concrete block.

In verge, close to hedge line; ground off rod marker in concrete block. Measured at 11.2m SE from centre of first hedge gap, and 41.6m from SE end of passing place.

Found easily looking at photos on logs, very deep soft soil small rod left exposed. A pensioner walking his dog quizzed me on what I was doing he knew all about trigpoints.

South side of road. Small brass rod. 1.2 m from road. 1.5 m to west of a small replanted section of hedge still with plastic bark protectors. 10 cm deep.
