Approached from the east along the road from Stembridge. Pillar visible on top of text book hill with a tree also on top. Pulled over in Burrow opposite footpath heading directly uphill. Short sharp climb to the top. Brilliant all round views. Lovely day. Stood admiring the views for a few moments. Tree makes it a photogenic spot. Slight downside is the bench around the pillar. Not sure that counts as damage but it makes getting a photograph of the FB very awkward. Spider and cap in place.

Party time, or rather picnic time at the trig. And what a delightful hill this is with fabulous all round views in particular out towards 'Camelot'! Today was a family gathering on this hill for we travelled from the east (Southampton) to meet our folks from the west (Plymouth). None of us had been here previously, we simply looked at the map, checked with this website, and decided that it looked good. In reality, more than good. Before the picnic we visited the superb Burrow Cider premises where we were given a tour by the welcoming staff (were able to park our cars there for several hours), and naturally bought lots of cider. Maybe trig purists abhor a seat around a pillar, but for us picnickers it was perfect. Later a walk around the Levels with some managing a swim in the River Parrett. Memorable day's visit.

Lovely little hill, definitley punching above its weight (or height). Single tree and trig pillar perched atop. Parked roadside in the village, short walk on RoW to top. Hideous seating arrangement which would need 2 people to lift it off for a decent photo as FB is partially obscured. Original cap in place, with what looks like deeply indented lettering from my photos (I took no notes for this pillar - the seating obviously affected me!). Superb panorama with extensive flooding seen to N.

Lovely little hill which gives very good views over low lying Somerset countryside. Pillar has been modified by becoming centrepiece of seat which goes round all four sides obscuring FB , the number of which is readable from below. Two sides of pillar have been painted grey in the past. Plug retained, lettering deep indented.

The pillar is sited on top of a small grassy hill. It has a metal cap with deep lettering; it supports a four sided bench at the same height of the FB S5896 and its foundations are exposed by about a foot. Hopefully the bench will prevent further erosion around the base of the trig. The site has lovely all around views taking in the Levels with the Mendip, Quantock, Blackdown, Dorset and Hamdon Hills further afield. A public footpath goes directly to the hill top from the adjacent road. Nearby are orchards for the nearby Cider Farm and Distillery which I intend to visit some day when it is the wife’s turn to do the driving.
