After logging Pilot Hill headed back west and north. About four hundred metres south of the public footpath. Sheep grazing in the field at the time. Climbed gate to access. Interesting FB number, out of sequence with others nearby. Extra point for that. And extra point for Berkshire county top. Just realised. Good views to south. Logged condition as good as seemed ok. OS map shows this place as Walbury Hill and Inkpen about two kilometres west of here. Headed there next.

Why is this trig point not called Walbury Hill? * * * Revisited 9 August 2014. Trig in good condition, metal cap missing, concrete plug present, some of the concrete render to the trig has come off. There were water troughs next to the trig, with disgusting dark green water in it with algae, and a brick covered reservoir nearby. And a dead bird on the ground next to the water troughs. * * * Revisited with the beautiful Mrs. on 5 December 2017.

Why do so many pillars seem to have daft names? This should be Walbury Hill. The trig is set back from the escarpment so the views are not great from the trig itself, though this is good walking country with good views around. It gets very busy up on the Downs here and New Years Day was no exception. The summit is a small plateau and field. Views from the track along the edge of the Downs to the north are great.
