Please ask permission to do so, publican shouted at me but still permitted me. Marked down for neglect but marked up for challenge.

The first of three YOSM trig points visited today accompanied by Tyrolean Maid who did all the driving. This was a nice easy one to start with. Parked in the cul-de-sac and walked round the corner to the T/P. Undergrowth quite high but not enough to totally obscure the pillar. The T/P is in generally good condition but I noticed that there are no rings to anchor the theodolite. Were they never there, I wonder or has the top been repaired and the rings cemented over? The original plug is still in place which is quite unusual on a T/P located in such a public place.

GPS took me to it without much bother. Although the TP is nestling among brambles, this seems fairly well trampled as though the TP is regularly visited. Although seemingly structurally sound, the TP is daubed in old, flaking, multi-coloured paint, some large solid coagulations of which are on the top metalwork. For this reason I marked it down slightly. The field is obviously used as a dog's toilet by the locals and the grass is long, so beware of focussing only on your GPS!

As well as the flush bracket I struggled to see a bit of the cap and some of the pillar's concrete and I suppose from this limited view it looked in good condition. Perhaps a better time to log this one is in winter!

This is in a nice little park that I have never noticed before - even though I must have driven past it loads of times. The trig is marked on the map but I could find no sign of it on the ground. With 7 meters accuracy on the GPS it is possible that it is under a pile of brambles or just inside someones back garden.

As close as I could get with the GPS
View north from where the trig should be No sign of it
View east from where the trig should be As far as i can see the only possible hiding place is in those neetles or the grden behind.
View south from where the trig should be No sign of it
View west from where the trig should be No sign of it - a thorugh search of those trees revealed nothing.
