From Slipper Low back along country lanes to Longcliffe. Straight across the crossroads and up onto High Peak Trail after passing beneath bridge. Lovely sweet scent whilst on the trail and some welcome shade whilst passing through a cutting. Hopped over wall when alongside what I guess is the entrance to a mine. Long, slow climb zig-zagging up the hill on the hottest day of the year so far. Great location for a trig with good views across to Carsington Water but spoilt by constant noise from the stone plant at the foot of the hill. Pillar is in good order but original cap replaced with plastic. Rested for a while in shade of the boulders before descending to Manystones Lane. Returned to Brassington via PROW at SK239549 and Wirksworth Dale.
