From Kessock Wood carpark, follow the red route. The pillar is set on a rock outcrop surrounded by mature trees and Heather. No views from this Trig. Trig in vgc. On the day we visited the Trig was highlighted by the winter sun.

Parked up in the car park to the NW.Good forest paths lead in different directions including to the trig. Pillar in good condition with FB but no cap. Trees hinder the views from the pillar itself but this is really a nice place to wander.

Nice walk from Ord Hill car park. the paths are well way marked and interesting with views of the Firth and Inverness. Wild life seen today, red squirrels, cross bills, red kites, buzzards, roe deer.

Nice easy log on a cracking spring day. Parked in the forestry carpark to the NW and had a really pleasant walk up to the old fort remains. picked up the trig whilst doing as a mini circular stroll. All metal work intact apart from the plug removed and now remains of an asphalt cap around the perimeter. Back in the day guessing the view would have been stunning across the water. Dropped down the south side of the hill to take in the views across the bridge and out over Inverness. Done with nozzer.

From parking area N of the A9 and SW of the trig - perhaps not the best way to attack it from, but certainly an interesting one. Once the main path is reached it's straightforward. Pillar sits approx 30m SE side of the track. Top cap missing and just the residue of an asphalt plug. Front and RHS sight holes open. Woodland, no views.

Convenient car park nearby, and a quick short pleasant walk up through the woods, where I found the pillar with open cap and two s/h's open. No views from here, but you're compensated by a beautiful piece of woodland.

Planning a long weekend of long walks but an injured knee meant short hobbles to handy pillars. Parked about 200 metres from the pillar and followed the track straight to the trig which still took nearly 20 minutes for the return trip.

Log #41. Last trig of the day, meaning that I have logged all 14 Black Isle trigs. Heading towards Drumsmittal from the A9, take the first right (think it's signposted for Craigbreck). There is parking available halfway up the hill, then it's a simple walk SE to the trig. It's located on a slight rocky mound, and the cap is missing. Not a surprise really, considering there are orienteering posts all over the place. Base is fairly exposed, but trig is otherwise intact. No view really, but if you head NE to the fort, there are some better ones towards the Kessock bridge and Longman. [ExP-41/MiP-0/BM-0]

Found on the way up to Ullapool for a weekend in the West Highlands. The YOSM geocache has visited this Trig so seemed a convenient place to stop off to break the journey up a bit.

vgc, broken asphalt plug; rocky knoll in fine open pinewood. From SW, picnic area: maze of paths but found OK with rough bearing and a bit of instinct. Continued to Yeaman summit (191m) which has a pine-framed view of Wyvis.

Idyllic setting atop a rocky crag, trees gently creaking in the wind with the midday sun glimpsing through the glade… who needs views with this magical scene? So beautiful that it appears to have attracted an orienteering post!

Agree with comments below: a beautiful wood but shame the summit view is spoiled as it would have been amazing. Pillar sits proudly atop a volcanic outcrop and is easy to spot from the woodland path.

Coniferous wood. What makes up for the lack of a view is the sheer beauty of the place. A lot of recent gorse felling on the direct route up from the A9. A trig pillar with line of site to nowhere nowadays. The pillar is in good condition. The asphalt plug in the spider has been broken and the centre hole was filled with pine cones. Flush bracket faces NNW. Right & front sighting holes open, others plugged. Access is easy with paths to summit.

In a scots pine wood so no views, but a lovely wood. Concrete plug replacement damaged. Near a permanant orienteering course control, and on the descent I found a map. This got me into trouble as it sugested an alternative way down which is now rendered impassable by gorse. Struggled though.
