My 1,000th visit to a Trig Point Pillar, including repeat visits and non-extant 'ghost' pillars logged as bagged. Actually my 633rd unique pillar, and my 624th unique extant pillar. I figured this to be a notable achievement, and I wanted a really good new pillar to mark the occasion. Not disappointed by choice of pillar today, a good walk with superb views, and good company from Trigging companion Simon.

Great 360 degree views including the twin Cockenzie power station chimneys a local landmark to be demolished this September. A sign of the end of the UK coal industry but never mind we've plenty of wind turbines to replace it.

Lammer Law is the second highest top in the Lammermuir Hills, a range which spans East Lothian and Berwickshire. The trig is on open moorland and stands beside a large cairn. There are no access problems, the trig is about 400m west of a long distance right of way marked as a track on the map. Views to Black Hill NT72, Eildon Mid Hill, Windlestraw Law, Scald Law, Allermuir Hill, Arthurs Seat, Skid Hill, North Berwick Law, Traprain Law, Deuchrie Dod, Sayers Law plus many more. Trig pillar is still in very good condition, flush bracket faces NW, spider retains original OS cap with shallow engraved font. Memorial plaque in ground by trig reads In memory of Paul Fraser 1959 to 2001, physicist, mountaineer, hill runner, friend. Weather sunny, GRP 9/08/03.

Although apparently intended as a secondary station, this marker was computed as tertiary station NT48/5 within the Edinburgh secondary block, and levelled to second class precision in 1943. This station was refixed to secondary standard 1983. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in July 1989.
