Nice 7 mile loop walk from red church in Dalswinton (free parking). A little bit of boggy land by gate before the final ascent.

From Dalswinton Church, followed road past Dalswinton Mill all the way to Shaws. Kept on past Shaws to a gate where we headed up the trig pillar. Returned the same way back to the track and followed it passed Pennyland through Wild Cat Glen to Dalswinton. Followed road a short way then took woodland path back to the church car park

HISTORY: Pillar completed 6th November 1953 costing £18.17s.6d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NX99/16 within the Dumfries block during 1954. Levelled for height to Class 2 precision also in 1954. Last maintained by the OS in May 1988. SITE VISIT: Pillar in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with deep indented lettering. Flush bracket faces northeast, compass measurement 57°. Vented through sight hole on FB face.
