Focusing on the wind turbine ahead and an absence of the fence line to the west, I walked past the pillar initially, as it didn't stand out from the surrounding long grass.

Last of 4 pillars I visited on a walk round Brechin. Came round the path along the old railway line from Maisondieu pillar. Very easy access along track. View across fields to the hills. pillar in good condition with central cap in place. Continued with my walk round to the Post Office on Montrose Street, where I started. Caught bus back to Montrose.

En route to visit the nearby House Of Dun, and made a quick detour to easily find this trig. Pillar fine with cap in place but with no lettering.

Second visit. For photographs and GPS measurement. SITE VISIT: Approached from south. Parked by farm track entrance at NO616611. Short walk up farm track, distance around 200m. Pillar on east side of farm track. Column in good condition. Spider retains unlettered OS cap which looks original. Flush bracket faces west ~269° across track. Vented through three half buried sight holes, north face plugged. 360° open skyline with no major obstructions but no particular views either.

Visited on the last day of my TGO Challeneg Walk. An easy walk up a rutted lane fromt eh road. Views not particularly good, but feel exhilarated anyway.

Up a green lane carrying an irrigation hose. Good condition - blank plug. Lots of electricity pylons. Got lost on way in and ended up at Glebe Park, memories of Meadowbank Thistle's first promotion and all. Breichin failed today to win promotion, but are almost certain to go up this season.

First visit. To record FB number. HISTORY: Pillar completed 14th August 1949 costing £10.9s.1½d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NO89/T50 in 1950. Levelled for height in 1953. Last maintained by the OS in June 1986. SITE VISIT: Trig pillar in good condition. Spider has blank OS cap in centre. Flush bracket faces west through plain wire fence across track. FB photographed 12/08/1998, GRP.
