Started at entrance to EDF Dorenell wind farm - walked all the way through until scaut hill came into view - followed path all the way up - phew it's a bit tiring but well worth the effort once you are on top.

Interesting walk via Glenfiddich Lodge due to the main path now being closed to walkers due to a large volume of wind turbines being installed over the next couple of years. View is quite nice, but does involve heather bashing for around a kilometre.

Took a route through the forest from the A941 as the weather was awful. Told myself it was not the best day for going up a hill, especially with 3 dogs in tow, but I pushed on. Forest track was great but the last section up through the heather in the pouring rain was pretty miserable. One of the dogs looked very tired and cold at the top but I sacrified my fleece wrapped her up and stuck her in the rucksack. To my surprise she was very happy and stayed warm and carried all the way back to the car!

Great walk in through a snowy landscape. What a view on top. Along with The Scalp, one to be savoured.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 2nd May 1953 costing £18.9s.4d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NJ45/T39 in 1953. Levelled for height also in 1953. Last maintained by the OS in May 1981. SITE VISIT: Parked in track recess at NJ351342. Followed mapped track to NJ335327 then made beeline for summit via path indicated on 1:25K map but not apparent on the ground. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces due north. Vented to south sight hole. Flattish heather top but still with 360° panoramic view to surrounding hills.
