The aim of my cycle ride today. No imminent plans to stay away from home and get a pillar, so trying other OS objects! Found the salt/grit bin OK but no sign of the Bernsten as previously described and shown in photos. Opening the lid I found the bin was empty but for a few bottles so I was able to lift and push it further into the hedgeline. Still nothing in sight. Improvised with a metal tyre lever to prod the ground I made a contact under where the bin had been toward its left front corner . Scraped away about 1/4 ins of earth and there it was. The day's ride also saw me pass 14,000 miles for the year and a lifetimes documented mileage of 700,000.
