3rd visit, to take Grid Ref reading, pleasingly spot-on. Weather, views and route very much as previously, pillar much whiter than previously, me with one dog more than previously. This really is a 'must-do' trig! ~~ 18/07/20 2nd visit, route as before from the SW. The weather better than previous visit, air clarity superb and the views from here in all directions were amazing. A really remote spot, yet (on a non firing day) really easy to get to. Awesome.

Same route as others, from lay by, over stile, followed quad bike tracks all the way to the pillar. Just as well they were easy to spot, as the weather went from fantastic, clear and sunny in an instant, to rain coming in sideways and very poor visibility. Interesting spot though, with three ancient burial mounds. Will look forward to a revisit to admire the views, hopefully before lambing is over

Straightforward walk from the road. Ranges open over Easter. Over the stile and then right on a quad track that curves towards the ridge and trig. A more direct return for the last few hundred yards. Indeed a great viewpoint to see familiar hills from a different angle. Back to the car and then over to Ogre Hill.

Parked at a convenient layby with a style indicating direction to travel along the ridge. Followed a quad track which made the walk so much easier. Fantastic weather conditions provided us with panoramic and extensive views. A rare opportunity to experience remoteness without harsh weather. This trig is situated next to 3 Bronze age cairns. Spent time trying to identify all the hill tops and sections of the Border Ridge. Returning to Alwinton we captured great views of Chew Green.

Took advantage of a non-firing weekend on the Otterburn ranges. Parked on the saddle at the highest point on the miliary road. Wet walk across to the trig and its impressive adjoining bronze age cairns. Vast expansive views, although low cloud and rain limited the distance until later in the day. Met a guy on our way back to the car who was collecting Deweys...'it's all about lists' he said as we swapped OCD stories! Went on to have a good look around the Chew Green Roman fort and the adjoining deserted medieval village.
