One trig left over from my previous visit to Hirta. I had equally perfect weather again this second time around.

What a spot. The wife headed straight for Conachair but I took a wee detour out here. Glad I did. Weather perfect as I sipped a dram on the cliff edge looking out over a vast expanse of nothingness. Happy days :)

Bolt in level rock close to summit. Trig symbol on 1992 Pathfinder map. 2nd time lucky - missed it on my 2003 visit. OS trig archive states height to bolt in rock, 286.512m, as of 1957. Superb clifftop location - maybe better than Conachair pillar. I added trig using OS archive grid ref. GPSr disagreed by a fair bit (estimated accuracy 2.1m). Surprisingly the GPSr agreed with the 286m elevation precisely.
