(3650) Another rare Thursday trigging session for me as I use up the last of my holidays before the new allowance starts in April. Staying the night in Towcester. Parked on Hornbeam and walked back to the bridge. Remains of bolt soon found.

3/8" brass rod bent over. Looks like this once had a bolt head. Rod top is not smooth and has a cut line as if croppers have been used.

It seemed strange looking for the bolt while all the cars were whizzing past underneath.

MCL's measurements are a bit out, it's a lot more than 18" from southern railings, closer to 1m. Also, as head of bolt has been sheared off and shaft is bent, have classified it as 'damaged'.

Yes MCLs description spot on. In one of several water-filled depressions this drizzly Saturday. Easy parking and access via short footpath from east. Strictly a Brass Rod rather than a bolt, it seems.

Couldn't find at first in the pouring rain - a pop back to the car and a look at MCL's log gave spot on directions (Thanks) as commented it looks bent/damaged?, crap location :)

I'm marking this one as slightly damaged because the bolt appears to have been bent out of shape (see photo) The bolt is situated over the middle lane of the northbound carriagway, about 18 inches from the southern railings. The bridge is indeed old, it was built at the same time as the M1 itself. It appears on my 1965 OS map.

Station SP74/T076. Listed as a Bolt. 4th Order. On a bridge over the M1, north end of Milton Keynes. The bridge clearly has had work done on it (new barriers, new edging), but I think the basic bridge is not modern. However, all I could find was something that could be the stump of the bolt? Originally left condition blank as I was unsure, but since 2 others agree, I have updated to Slightly damaged. Over the N-bound carriageway of the M1.

The remains of the Bolt?
