Presumably it's under the cairn.

Tremendous walk up from the roadside car park at the NE end of Wastwater. In your face climb up through the gap btw Dropping Crag and Bell Rib. With no pillar, the experience of Yr Aran in Wales, suggested a Bolt (such is the lack of research). The bolt is indeed hidden. Descent by the bottom gripping Stirrup Crag to Dore Head then back to the car park. The return made interesting by a shepherd controlling 4 dogs to muster his Herdwick sheep into the valley floor and down. Superb views all around. The great culmination of three excellent walking days in Wastdale.

First time here since I knew about the bolt, but supporting Leg 4 of a Bob Graham Round attempt (James Elson, got round the 24 peaks in 22h15) so only time for a quick scan of summit outcrops. Needs a peek under the cairn sometime...

Presumed it was buried beneath cairn. Good viewpoint though.

If it is here, then it'll be under the cairn, couldn't find it. Nice steep climb from Overbeck bridge. Good views all round.

Should be a higher score, but difficult to see anything in a whiteout. Certainly couldn't find the bolt in 3 feet of snow.

Good walk/scramble up via Great Door. Last up here 25 years ago so don't expect to be back again. Loads of flying ants around the summit which seemed particularly attracted to me so didn't hang around too long. Enjoyed the walk anyway and another Wainwright for Mrs Dan.

In conclusion it maybe under the substantial cairn or distroyed. > Overbeck Brige > Wasdale Head. Previous visit 20/04/2009

It seems to be a scramble to get up here which ever way you come. My knees had just about stopped wobbling by the time I reached the top. I had a good search around for the bold but could not find it. My guess is that it may well be under the cairn that has been built on the summitt. It's not a large cairn but too big to dismantle to look for a bolt.
