Quick hop of the fence and the bolt was on the concrete structure in the centre of the compound.

By sheer coincidence arrived here at 7.12am as the Southern Water guy arrived for his weekly sample, but he couldn't let me in and he couldn't find the bolt. Returned 6.17pm on way back to YHA, hopped over fence. Rivet (Witness Mark 4) found in concrete surround of large round inspection chamber. ***25 Aug 2022 update: the OS sketch shows this rivet is merely a Witness Mark, the Bolt being on the corner of a nearby rectangular structure (hatch surround?). The status and my logged condition updated, and see OS sketch below.

Visited on a walk between Shoreham-by-sea and Styening to pick up trig points at Shoreham High Reservoir, Erringham Hill, and Shelleys. The trig point is located inside the reservoir compound. Lacking Griefmiester's chain-link fence climbing abilities (see 19th Jul 2012), I didn't attempt to get close, satisfying myself with a photo over the fence. There are number of interesting cast iron monuments near the reservoir, bearing the legend '... Corporation Waterworks', where the name of the corporation has been ground off. I'd guess that they mark the route of water mains.

Weather better today so hoping over fence not a problem - lowest on the North East corner - Bolt (small Rivet type one) is located on the surround of a round concrete structure - all appears to be in good condition - nice South Downs area. Updated 04/08/2012 - looking on Google Earth I think there might be 2 as it appears to be a few meters from the one i found, i will return ASAP. Udate 10/08/2012 - Revisited looked where Google Earth suggests and was unable to find anything else.

locked compound around this one, so unable to get in, might be able to get over (or under) fence - not today though as very muddy.
