Parked at Ashopton Bridge - surprisingly quiet for school holiday time - and up to Whinstone Lee, which presented a slight problem toeing in up to the ridge. Then it was stones after stones. Never quite sure which is which, but surely the first is the Coach and Horses? Not a soul in sight until the pillar, when it became Derwent Edge rush hour! Back the same way, (embarrassing!), but dropped early before Whinstone to avoid the cornices ... and got lost in the woods. I have so been here before. Still. Lots of sunshine, to be expected, and lots of snow, not so. On to the Yorkshire Bridge, which may have lost its 6d jukebox biker glamour but still maintains a glorious selection of beers amongst the crockery clutter! A good day.

Plastic plug. Public. Access Land. Peak District National Park. Magnificent trigpoint on top of rocks, with some scrambling needed to reach it. Walk up from Ashopton Viaduct - the route is long but the paths are good & the going is pretty easy on the approach along Derwent Edge. Various weird & wonderful rock formations passed on the way. Overall, a High Peak classic.
