Asked at the farm house and permission readily given. As previous logs, the field is still owned by the Environment Agency and the farm have a grazing lease on it. The sand is of poor quality so they used it to fill sand bags.

I was reluctant to ask for permission to visit after seeing the electric fence across the gate. Maybe I should have but I don't like bothering people!

(718) And roughly at the point that Harry and Meghan was tying the knot, it was time to bag one more, before heading home. Handy passing point for parking near to the pillar, which is visible from the road. Called at the farm, but no-one at home. Gate in hedge for access into the field. Non original plug. Pillar history: Built on the 16th of February 1951, at a cost of £15 9s 0d. Last maintained by the OS in July of 2000.

Walked up to gate near farm building easy walk across to the trig which is in vgc fair views windy saw gate in hedge on way back to car!

No need to climb barb wire fences just ask the farmer,no problems easy gate near farm house.

Asked permission from friendly farmer. Drove past the gate three times without seeing it . It's behind the hedge. Came back over it through a hole in the hedge and we'll trodden path. Farmer says Army lads often visit. It was a sand quarry but the sand is of poor quality and little value now.

I can't wait to tell my American colleagues that I climbed Barf Hill on the weekend! Found the gate that was climable in winter months. Easy access after that.

Plug replaced; back sighting-hole open. Fidgety cattle kept their distance. Convenient gate from roadside to N. A hill relative to its flat surroundings. One of several Barf/Barff hills - a dictionary search suggests that its a variant of 'Barugh' or 'Barrow'.

I too approached from the north. It was clear that cattle normally occupy this field but none were around today.
