Another high plinth pillar just like yesterday's to the east. Parked in front of two gates to south, assessing would be okay for 20 mins on a Sunday. Up field to where field becomes manicured lawn with no fence. Big bungalow.. Asked permission of I could climb over her east boundary. Not as easy as I'd hoped as farmers fence on East Side was barn wire topped and required cars to get over it. At top of field another trig on big plinth metres east of big hawthorn hedge.

Couldn't really spot a convenient place to park so ended up on the verge by some houses. Went to look at gate en-route to trig and tried to see if anyone was available in the houses to ask for permission to visit the trigpoint. After a while one of the house owners came out and gave me permission to visit the trigpoint but pointed out that you can not park anywhere in front of the houses as this is private curtilage.

Pillar is in good condition but the base is damaged by erosion on the West side. Unlikely to be problematic though.

vgc, metal cap, shallow letters. On W-E stub-end of hedgebank, pasture, nice view. Hiding on the main map fold.

I found access a bit problematical. We parked outside Goatlake House (Goatlake Cottage on the map). Follow the track west to the next gate and head up on the west side of that hedgeline. The trig is on a bit of a bank about 20 yards into the field. Sheep pasture. Plug with indented lettering.

Gets a 6 for being a first. Rang the bell of the nearby property but the place was empty, so I took a chance and nipped over the lowest part of the fence into the neighbouring field. The trig sticks out into it at the end of what was once a longer hedge, on the customary large plinth - both are a little damaged (I assume by farm machinery). Pleasant country views to be had.
