Parked in lay by full of fly tip waste close to the start of the oil track path. Nice easy start along the track with only a short section which is moderately steep to the summit. Great views but didn’t linger for long as it was fairly breezy!

Great views. Quite rough going after the oil track ( parked above Widdop Resevoir and came back over Grey Stones). ( there is another spot just downhill from the blocked off site miked on OS maps.

Walked on the footpath past Beaver Farm (who had some very impressive poultry) and onto the open moor opposite Lumb Laithe Fm. Turned out to be a great day on the tops; temperature just right for walking, good visibility and the ground not too soggy. My walking mate Colin was ex NFU and knew a story for every farm we could see. Descended via the Abbot Stone.

Bloody amazing views!! Quite the stomp , took the track from the gate on the top of Ridehalgh lane. Boggy underfoot on the climb up to to the trig and a bit scrambly underfoot but made it one piece! Views are phenomenal on a clear day

Had a good run up from South Wales and had parked up at SD 91487 33775 before 1pm. Walked along the track which was built in 1962 by the Continental Oil Company of Texas who were granted permission to drill for oil in the area. Stayed on the track will the drill site at SD 92685 34740 before heading up the path to Lad Law. Nice to be on top of a Marilyn again after so long! Left wondering if the whole trig had been painted red at one stage as well as the FB.

Revisit on exercise walk on a benchmarking trip, the old trig mark has been discovered By Earby on his 6000 th benchmark log.Plus many other ancient old pivot marks discovered as well. Sunny at times but a bitter east wind made it feel chilly.

Walked in from the track to the SW of the Pillar. Leaving the Widdop Moor road we were fortunate to see a Goldern Plover defending her chicks, a lovely start to the walk out. I could not help but notice the amount of wonderful dressed stone that had been dumped on the side of the track and it would appear used to form the foundation of the track at some of the many gully crossings. Seemed like a waste of good dressed stone!! Good path from the end of the track upto Lad Law. Excellent 360 views from the pillar and certainly we spent a moment or two picking landmarks out. Pillar still looking splendid in its recent White coat of paint. Like the red on the FB...makes reading the number in the photo pics easy. Done with PL.

KJ Gloriously sunny day and walked up to the end of the Oil Road before following the clear track which after the recent good weather was springy and bouncy rather than a squelchy plod. Very easy climb to whitewashed trig which was glaringly white in the sunshine and what we are told was the Slaughter Stone which we sat on to eat lunch. Good moorland views all round with Pendle Hill prominent.

Hopes were high as i set off for an afternoon's walk as the sun shone brightly.But as i set off up the miners track a freezing fog descended and it was in for the day.The trig was in vgc and had not been vandalised since i repainted it earlier in the year had to be on the navigation on the way down visibility down to a few metres.

From minor road, good farm track half of the way, then track across the moor. Nice rock formations. Pillar has a crude coat of bright white paint with FB painted red! Unable to determine if top cap is mortar or composite. All top edges and corners chipped. Hazy panorama.

Bagged this pillar on a 13 mile circular from Laneshawbridge, along Pendle Way through Wycoller, Towards Coldwell Inn and back through Trawden. Boulsworth Hill didn't look very interesting until we reached the top where there are lots of interesting rocks and we could see snow covered hills way in the distance up the Yorkshire Dales. It is VERY boggy up there, so some bits were a struggle but well worth it.

Walked up from widdop gate in sunny conditions but was unlucky when the sun decided to go in 5 minutes from the trig still at least it was clear.Trig was ok but needs a fresh coat of paint very cold did not hang around long at the summit.

Top Of Trig Chipped , Cap filled, Sight holes blocked Pleasant rocky summit good 360 views of Pendle and the dales , Got dropped off at the Oil Road SD 914337 ( room for one car to park ) and followed track then footpath across moor to Trig, Returned home via historic Wycoller-well worth a visit!!

First visit for over 12 months walked up from the gate at widdop rivet. Was lucky to get some shots as the mist closed in shortly afterwards trig in reasonable condition. I found a geocashe by accident at SD 9278 3549 it was completely waterlogged in both containers! I put a couple of dry sheets of note paper in the box signed it and re sealed the boxes.

The first of a three trig circular from Widdop Res. I loved this one and spent a fair while just off the edge, SE of the trig, enjoying the sun out of the wind. A fine moorland view over to Stoodley Pike and the Emley Moor mast

Approached from west. Parked east side of Black Lane beside the route of the Pendle Way at SD903361. Followed Pendle Way apast Upper Coldwell Reservoir and out onto open moor. Choice of random route across tussocks or via the path shown on the 1:25K map. Pillar in fair condition. Spider filled with concrete. Flush bracket faces northeast ~55°. All sight holes plugged. Full 360° panoramic view.

Snowy Pen Y Ghent and Great Whernside light up the northern views - very wild today, last visit was Summer and sweat flies, prefer the icy winds.

Early finish wasnt planning to go out again but couldn't resist when the sun came out.Parked at widdop gate lot of fresh powder snow about had to break trail when i came of the track.Bitterly cold on top first time for ages i walked in my down jacket and never broke a sweat great views big mackerel sky forming trig ok more snow forecast for tomorrow!

Walked from the road close to the Coldwell Activity Centre, then after easy walking along the main track turned up the slopes of Boulsworth to complete the not-very-well signposted Boulsworth Circular Walk. Good walk... with nice views over Trawden towards Colne and Pendle Hill. Lovely day and didn't come across another soul during the walk. Trig in good condition; nice spot. Would revisit for sure.

Revisit couldn't resist on a sunny day unusually no wind at the top sat down in perfect silence just listening to birdsong and admiring the views.The trig has weathered well over winter and is in good condition.

Revisit after pendle trig re-paint home for dinner first bit off telly then off again.Fell extremely dry could have walked out in carpet slippers sunny quite windy up here as it always seems to be,was startled by a walker who appeared from nowhere from behind same routine as on pendle earlier many questions asked why i was maintaining the trig, which is in vgc now with new paint job fine views but hazy today.

A long trek to the base of Boulsworth Hil. Not easy to navigate. Ascent to summit hard and uneven. Still snow on ground and very muddy and boggy in areas. weather was freezing cold and windy on top. Hard walk. Descent was very steep and boggy.

Finally got around to bagging this one, always been an over looked hill for me. I bagged it on a circular walk from Colne railway station via the Trigs on Shelfield Farm, and Extwistle Moor. Came up concessionary path from Spouty Lumb to the north so pillar is easily accessible. Following the recent re-paint by painterman61 the pillar is now highly visible too. This is a wonderful view point but today the clouds had rolled in during my ascent so they were somewhat restricted today. Pillar has some slight damage to the top but now looks in wonderful condition.

Up again on same route as before decided to give the trig a coat of paint as it was looking tired last time i visited.The top is unusual on this it has been repaired but has four securing lugs instead of four, gave FB a makeover as well.Brilliant allround views again today in the sunny weather,Happy birthday station S1540!

Done on very good track from SE from parking at widdop rivet, also resonable path to top, sunny today but hazey at long range trig has slight damage, mortar plug and fading white paint exellent views again.This trig was built in april 1936 the 1000 series were the original primary trigs designed by major martin hotine, 75 yrs old in april 2011! Also found anglo saxon writing hlad hleow on the so called druids slaughter stone 20m south of trig near 2nd stile i think this is over 2000 yrs old the writting is on the flat surface on the top edge.

Plastic cap, top somewhat rounded/eroded, plugged with ?mortar. Among gritstone outcrops; summit in mist. Met a local runner at the summit. Obvious approach from SW: good track then annoyingly deep tussocks.

Excellent views today. Walked out from Worsthorne via Extwistle Moor then NE up track from minor road at SD915337. There is a peaty path from the end of the track to the summit of Boulsworth Hill. Dry underfoot on my visit but I would imagine it could be wet after prolonged rain.

You can see Blackpool Tower from this trig. But not today!! A misty, claggy climb up from Wycoller en route to Shelfield. This pillar has rounded corners - very cuddly. The cloud parted on the way down to reveal a spectacular glimpse of the Forest of Trawden spread out below. It made the climb worthwhile.

I don't usually log re-visits, but as records suggest this trig dates from 13/4/36, I thought I should try and visit it as close as possible to its 70th birthday as I could - circumstances dictated I was one day late. This was a delightful walk, with glorious weather and a superb view - from the Irish Sea to the Dales. Magnificent.

Lad Law on Boulsworth Hill. Came up from the south (having passed Widdop Reservoir) along a track running east (right) from the road. The track ends and what looks like bikers tracks disappear to the left up the moor towards the trig. The tops been newly fenced off (but with stiles). Lovely view from the top across the Lanky/Yorky border moorland and to Pendle Hill. I liked it up here but after the heavy rain it was very moist. Done on a Hebden Bridge to Haworth meander.
