Moorland very dry at the moment with some areas closed because of fire risk. But not this one. Access via Petersbottom track to shooting hut then vehicle track direct to trig point. Extensive view even in the hot weather.

Parked on Mewith Lane and walked past West Borronhead. From there on it was just a case of following Alder Gill Syke and keeping the fence on your left for a steady climb. Great walking conditions on springy turf as the drought continues. Views open up nicely as you reach the top and impressively across to Ingleborough on the way down

Solo. Parked about 100 mtrs down Petersbottom Lane. Followed vehicle track to shooting box (the O.S. designation doesn't do it justice, it's a substantial dwelling). From there continued on an ATV track (not shown on O.S. map) that leads to the trig pt. Excellent views from the summit. A good one. 66 mins.

From the main road between Bentham & Slaidburn turn left on to a rough track, its marked Petersbottom Lane on the OS map,but at the entrance there is a rock with a sign saying Crossdale Grains. About 100 yards down the track there is a pull in area where you can park out of sight of the main road. From here as with Painterman61s log,i followed the track up to the shooting lodge & then the grassy quad track straight to the trig. Had to nip over the fence but no problems. Not much in the way of views as the cloud was rolling over the Bowland fells to the West whereas to the East,Ingleborough was still topped with cloud. 57 minutes car-trig-car.

Started in Bentham and came up the minor road that leads to Slaidburn. Dont follow the fence from Great Stone of Fourstone as its an absolute bog. As Sigina nivilis says the best route up/down is via the track leading to and beyond the shooting box - the latter isnt shown on the map but it heads SE steadily uphill to the trig. Very hazy today but on a good day there would be excellent views in all directions. Headed off to Crutchenber Fell after this. Train to Bentham - no cars - on foot!
