Having read previous logs and after a walk around the perimeter in the very muddy field I went for it and managed to hug the trig, felt very pleased with myself until later that evening on my gin cruise wearing top to toe mud all down the back of my trousers as I was too late to change due to trig bagging activities and traffic on the bridge!

Could have easily entered the reservoir through a damaged section of the fence but thought better of it. The fence is obviously there for a reason and quite happy with the view I got.

Called here en route to Livingston 1-1 Stranraer (Livi won on penalties). I received a penalty in the form of traffic chaos at the Forth Road Bridge after the match - nearly two hours to drive three miles. Remained calm buoyed by memories of the beautiful game, and the conquest of pillar no: s3239 which entailed a 'Fosbury Flop' over the reservoir fence to reach the prize. Cap in place, one sight hole open.

From the nearest point outside the fence to the pillar is around 14m. Pillar looks in good condition. Couldn't see any metalwork or sightholes due to long grass. The NW corner of the fence looks scalable due to a slump in the lower-half. However, decided to not set a bad example to the accompanying child...Good views from the hill though especially west along the firth.

First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 29th April 1944 costing £4.16s.3d. In 1946 this marker was computed for triangulation as secondary station NT18/11 in the Dunfermline block. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1948. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in July 1983. On top of covered resr. Surrounding chain link fence was rusting away. Appears to have since been rewired. Large tanks may be disused. Good view of the Forth Bridges.
