With Gav and Dan. 2nd visit and now bagged. Went earlier in the year when the cows were present. No sign of them in the field today and no staff around to ask, so hopped over the gate nearest the trig.

Early morning and nobody about so over gate and under electric wire up field no cows until near trig then highland cattle hiding under trees came into view A quick pic and a fast retreat

Pillar in the middle of a field owned by the estate at Gog Magog. Gates to the field were wide open when we visited and no cattle grazing so could walk right up to the trig point safely.

Someone has taken a photo of the flush bracket laminated a copy and attached it to the gate into the trig field. This I can only assume is to stop anybody entering the field to take their own photos.

Had a previously thrawrted attempt back in September as an estate warden was repairing the fence and would not allow me permission to enter the field. No such problems today however for myself and Maria's first mutually bagged trig.

£3 parking, if you decide to pay it - or take a chance! Trig found in a pasture on NE side of the Wandlebury Iron Age hill fort. Original cap, with raised lettering, has been retained; left, front and rear sight holes are open, with RHD side plug degrading. Pillar has a noticably smooth and even screed finish. The highland coos are in a small enclosure NNW of the trig near the high point of the Gog Magog Hills.

The warden was kind enough to take me to this today but would like to point out that the pillar is not available at all times due to the long horns being in the field.

There was only one way in to see this and that was through the sleeping Longhorns. We were assured that they were harmless! He awas right! they took no notice of us. Seen while geocaching.

A straightford find whilst visiting Wandlebury Country Park. No cattle or sheep in field today. Access hampered by electric fences on all sides - I managed it by climbing a gate SW of the pillar where there was just enough space to then duck under the wire. Pillar is in good condition with original metal cap but the location is nothing special - a field surrounded by trees so minimal views. Being used to the Peak District I'm afraid Cambridge is simply too flat for me.

Walked round ditch of Hill Fort to find TP in field of large and seriously horned cattle. Fortunately they were on the far side of the field, and the electric fence wasn't live - with the benefit of long legs it was a quick step over. Only when half way to the TP did I see the farmer was also in the field, glaring at me. Eyes down, quick photos, retreat. TP in vgc with original metalwork.

An interesting location because of the surrounding ancient earthworks, and an easy walk around the ditch but an electric fence had to be negotiated before getting access to the pillar. There were no animals in the field so it may not have been live, but I took no chances. A tree branch helped me swing over.

Visited while at a nearby geocache. The pillar is in the middle of a sheep field. There are no views as the field is surrounded by trees.

The nearest trig pillar to my home. Siutated in a coutry park on the Gog Magog's, and near to a Roman Road. From nearby there are good vies north over Cambridge, but trees block any views from the pillar. There is a nice walk arond the ditch and banks of the old hillfort.

Cambridgshires highest trigpoint. They try to dissuade you from visiting the trig by putting the FB no on a poster on the fence. No way! Not after paying £2.00 to park. Plug with raised lettering.

Did as part of geocache GCABED. Very easy to find in Wandlebury Country Park. Unfortunately although these are the highest hills in the vicinity (~75m) there are no views from the TP in any direction.

Interesting location - Wandlebury Country Park - lots of history and could make a nice day out. Trig point is now in fenced off area (for sheep) and, strictly speaking, out of bounds to public. But fence has obviously been climbed a lot, and sheep weren't in the enclosure when I visited...
