Parked next to derelict sheep pens on roadside. At this location pillar is visible above the quarry. Easy 30mins return journey. A stone built pillar still covered in white paint. Evidence of moss especially on south side. Spider is missing.

Squat stone built Pillar visible from roadside. Fading coat of whitewash. Parked at the sheep pens just up the road and followed shooters track to old quarry then scrambled up the bank. Distinct path appearing to the Pillar, but boggy underfoot, goretex shoes and seal skinz socks to the rescue!

Followed the track up to the little quarry and then a short hop to the rather squat pillar at the top. The views make you feel like you are on the roof of England but Tan Hill pub @ 1732 ft above sea level and a warm fire are only a few minutes away. Works for me.

Wanted to come out here for years, made it at last, another stormy day to start with spectral skyscape, sombre and grim on the tops with Shunner a welcome beacon in the huge space. Then back along the PW for a Black Sheep in the Cumbrian part of the Tan Hill. Three county walk with a yomp across the edge of Co Durham before heading to the border signs for Richmondshire and Cumbria.

Cycled from near Sleightholme Farm. Stone built pillar, painted white (looks like painting was done recently) - open spider. Flat top rock, with bench mark a few metres from trig. Nice top with good views.

Chubby white washed trig reached by a short walk up the track from the Tan Hill Road. Loads of red grouse probably chuffed that the low cloud and poor visibility will keep them safe today but meant we had absolutely no view - but at least the rain has stopped for the moment.

I parked at the road/track junction to the south and simply walked up through the old qaurry to the pillar. For a stone built one it is in good condition and has, in the recent past, been given a coat of white paint. Unfortunately the plug has been removed leaving the centre now open to the elements. A lovely, wild moorland, viewpoint.

Parked just off road at track entrance at NY 8765 0865 and walked up the old quarry track. I turned off the track to the right before reaching the quarry and rounded the hill to reach the summit. Stone-built pillar, unusually painted white. FB faces SSE; WSW & ENE sightholes open, others plugged. Hanging low cloud so virtually no views apart from the sheep and grassland surrounding. At 522m above sea level this is my highest trig point so far!

Easy bag from roadside looking at other logs pictures i was surprised to find the trig painted which is unusual for a stone built trig no plug remote feeling on the moors here great views. couldn't resist bagging lovely seat on the way home.
