Parked at junc road/track to W, short but steep walk up. Pillar is in a sorry state with the FB missing and the resulting hole filled inwith mortar; the top edges are badly chipped; centre cap missing, no plug; the R & LHD side sight holes are open. Having said all that, it's had a coat of white paint not so long ago. Extensive views.

My second visit, Like Penshaw Hill this wasn't on todays agenda which was to do as many as possible in North Yorkshire, however road closures and diversions around Washington sent us past this and it seemed crazy to just drive past, given how easy it is to park up and walk up to it. Impressive views of Newcastle spoiled by the intrusion of Sunderland! Second of 16 Trig Points today.

Parked part way up the bridle path and scaled the steep grass side, didn’t take long. Stunning views if you can ignore the fact it has become a fly-tipping hot spot. Part of it was damaged on the sides and the cap was missing

Short walk from roadside uphill to a rocky outcrop. This pillar is damaged on its SE side with 2 large chunks missing. Great panoramic views includinding west across to Penshaw Monument.

Pleasant walk from Penshaw Hill. One side edge of pillar has two large chunks of conc missing - smaller bits gone from other edges. Nice little hill - good views.

It's a long day trip from Brum to South Shields and back, so not a lot of time for trig hunting but spotted this gloriously white-painted pillar from the northbound A19 and couldn't resist a detour. No plug and huge chunks of concrete missing. N/S sightholes open, other closed. Good views over Sunderland to the North Sea and also of the Nissan factory inland in spite of a rather cloudy day.

I have meant to pull off the A19 for years to visit this trig and had my chance today. Good views out to sea and back over to Penshaw Monument. Managed to retrieve my hand from friendly pitbull's mouth.

Easy short walk up from road. Looks like trig has been hot by sledge hammer. Nicely painted and good views. A lot of cow slip flowers out.

Quite a distinctive little hill easily identified from the Penshaw pillar. The farmer seems to be locked in a constant battle with the locals judging by the patched up barbed wire fence. Managed to get through a missing section without causing any more damage. Pillar appears to have received a coat of paint since the last log.

Spotted this one by chance driving north on A19 three weeks ago on our previous trip this way (the pillar is not visible when travelling south). Parked on track off Foxcover Road, climbed over fence and climbed straight up to pillar. Not a good day for sight-seeing - damp and misty but I would guess the view is terrific on a clear day.

Nice easy trig to do. Approached along Foxcover Road, parked at the left turn that leads up to the farm. Easy walk to the trig. Fantastic views of area. Good clear day. Trig in a dodgy condition. Lots of evidence of night time activity from local youths. Shame, because it's a great location, with lots to see.

Blowy day, great view. This one really has been in the wars. The most damaged one since a Scottish one that must have had a direct hit by lightning. May have misread the FP number it is painted over with graffiti.

Going by the pillar damage and broken glass, the local braindead pondlife must frequent this area. Pillar had previous repairs but been damaged again with two large bites out of one of the edges. Spider centre open, innards filled with debris. Flush bracket faces 27° NNE. NW and SE sight holes open, debris inside.

Easy to locate and access. Pillar battered, with loads of graffiti. Surprisingly nice views in one direction to S Tyneside, but the busy A19 dual carriageway dominates in the opposite direction.

Smashing 360 view, but the Pillers North side is severely munched and grafittied, the cap has gone amiss, with a glass-riden base exposed and SE & NW sights open.
