3rd of 3 trigs today. Nice easy circular of Kit Hill tower and trig from the lower car park. Very windy and very cloudy but longer views in certain directions. Earlier that day we did Kilmar Tor and Caradon Hill trigs.

A wonderful hill, easily one of my all time favourites. The exotic long lines of Dartmoor and Exmoor, the huge Plymouth Sound being enveloped in greys, end of land hill crests deeper into Cornwall and everywhere grey balzed sky and a hint of the sea. Bonus points for garage with Kernow inscribed and the wonderful chimney which is like a beacon all the way from the north coast.

Easily found on this isolated upstanding part of the S.Western Granite batholith. A selection of car parks mean that you can walk up from the road along a rough but we'll worn path, from half way up or if you're totally lazy from 3m below the pillar. Fantastic views in 360° directions. I don't think that you can see the north coast. Dart- & Bodmin Moors are a given. Plymouth to the south.

KF Not much in the way of views with the mist. A giant chimney afflicted with mobile phone junk and toposcopes to be found along with convenient summit top parking. The trig itself is on the corner of a rectangular structure as of yet unidentified by us.

Short detour on the way back from Cotehele - the Old Man liked this trig as you can drive all the way up to it and it has a superb all round view, albeit rather hazy today. Excellent condition especially considering its very public location - metal cap, shallow letters, all s/holes still closed.

[Logging 02/06/2015 - Found trig point details and pictures on laptop, backdating to when I was visiting the area]. Visited Kit Hill for geocaches and grab the virtual which is this trig point, thought would be wise to claim it 2 years and 3 months later on this website. We have a holiday place 2 miles away, so enjoy the view down the tamar valley.

I think this probably deserves a higher score than 5, but with the cloud down on the hill, who knows? Day 4 of our West Country Marilyn bagging trip, working our way back to home in Wiltshire; we stayed at the Salcombe YHA. Lots of history on this hill, particularly the old mine and quarry works. We parked near Hingston Farm on the B3257 to the east of Kelly Bray and so visited the old quarry on the way up the hill - very eerie in the mist. Pillar is in good condition.
