Quick and easy trig to find. Look for a mental farmer fence. You should see the trig from the road. Next to a residential home and surrounded by farmland

Parked on Nightfield Lane, drove up a short way, found a place to turn around to park on the right and when I looked, there was the opening to the field with the trig right by the entrance, quick easy bag.

2nd of 4 on today's hike. Having come from Hoolster Hill, I'd followed a fp from BAE onto Common's Lane. Continued up to Nightfield Lane then to the gate where the trig is nearest too. A neighbour in the next property was watching so I continued on, then over the stile to the PRoW. So waited till neighbour went in then dashed up to the pillar. Did what we do then back to the footpath. On to Edenholme next.

Heading down the M6 so made a short diversion to get this fairly easy roadside bag. Drove up Nightfield Lane and parked by the field gate. Decided to just go over the gate as the field was empty and the house was a little ways away. Nice views north over the Ribble Valley towards Longridge. Took photos and nipped back to the car, all done in 90 seconds.

3 of 4 trigs visited on an 11-mile circular hike from Mellor. Followed a path through ire Wood to Park Gate, Pewter House Fold and up to Northfield Lane at Lane Ends. Just before climbing over the style on to the road, look left and the trig is about 50 yards up.

Started from Balderstone church and followed road to trig pillar which was behind a locked gate. A quick hop over, quick pic and off. Followed paths then along the Ribble to Osbaldeston Hall, then to Osbaldeston Green and field paths back to the car. A good 6.5 mile circular

Parked by Gate , jumped over to Trig which sits nearby in the corner of an empty field , the Trig is in Good condition with a plastic cap the sight holes are blocked and the FB faces 61` the view is mainly of the nearby farm

HISTORY: Pillar completed 18th August 1948, cost not on record. Computed as tertiary triangulation station SD74/T28 in 1949. Levelled for height in 1961. Last maintained by the OS in October 1980. SITE VISIT: Approached from northwest. Parked in gateway with pillar in view just metres away. Cattle field. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre contains a grey plastic cap, fitted 14/05/2000 by JWR. Flush bracket faces ESE ~61° Vented through NW sight hole. 360° open outlook.
