What a lovely walk following the public footpath from where we parked up on the roadside through the fields and up the hill towards the trig site. The flock of sheep were very inquisitive and came to meet us as we approached the top. Continuing along the footpath into the next two fields, the ‘what3words’ app took us directly to the trig point. We all thoroughly enjoyed this bag, the views were remarkable in the low sunshine but unfortunately the dogs loved rolling in the sheep poo too!

Pulled over on side of road at crossroads signed for Stonton Wyville. Along bridleway south for about 75 metres then south east along footpath track through field and diagonally uphill. After about eight hundred metres path turns south after passing hedge on that side, gaining a little more height and pillar tucked in close to hedge on west side of path. Good views although better views slightly away from pillar. Spider and cap in place. Leans to west so changed condition to damaged for reasons as noted by jonglew.

Led my running group up tonight. Starting from Thorpe Langton direct to Stonton Wyville, then up to the summit and trig pillar, before returning to Thorpe Langton. Unusually crops in the field but nothing that affected access to the top. Pleasant summertime views.

From and to Thorpe Langton via Bale Barn then up to the summit and trig on the Stonton path. Nice views E and NE towards Slawston, Cranoe and Neville Holt. Trig in good condition, and no change since my last visit.

Led my local social running group up tonight from Welham. After paying homage to the trig it was down towards Stonton then along the road for a bit before a second ascent on the Glooston road path up the steep hill to visit the trig for the second time. Then back to Welham. No change to the trig since my last visit.

(2593) Parked on the track off Cranoe Road. Easy to follow route to the pillar. Good views of rolling countryside abound. A few folks about and whilst at the pillar had a wee chat with a local chap. All good though a lean to the pillar is noticeable, but I'll forgive it that. Centre cap original - lightly indented lettering. Pillar history: Built on the 9th of December 1948, at a cost of £11 1s 10d. Last maintained by the OS in May of 1984.

Perhaps my 'local' trig, although others are physically nearer, this is my most visited. Up from Stonton and down to Welham today. No change from my previous visit (apart from lack of owl pellet this time!). Good old LC trig.

We parked on Cranoe Rd at the point where Glooston & Goadby are signposted. There is a bridle way mark but that was hidden in the hedge! Public footpath path sign to Thorpe Langton runs across the field too. Our spaniel put up pheasant and partridge and the field was awash with hare so good to keep dogs on leads! Keep to the left of the hedge and it brings you to a gate. After the gate there is a fairly steep section of grassy field with a 5 bar gate at the top. Go through the gate and follow the field round to the right - don’t go through the next gate, keep following the field and the trig magically appears in a corner on the right. Lovely views of farm land/ countryside. Couldn’t tell if the trig was leaning or it’s just a trick of the eye because of the uneven ground around it.

Parked on lane to NW (SP 7376 9460). RoW up to the tump summit and trig. Pillar has a pronounced lean rendering it unusable, hence damaged. An original centre cap is retained, lightly indented lettering; all sight holes sealed. Extensive views, partially hindered by hedgerow

Parked in the road unsuitable for motors near Stonton Wyville and walked up the FP from the NW to the trig. Big thumbs up to the farmer for indicating the path. Lovely views in all directions and a refreshing breeze on a warm day.

Easy walk up to here through cropfield from the bridleway, although I arrived via the harder cowfield route up from Thorpe Langton. Dark on arrival so unable to appreciate the views.

A steep ( for Leicestershire ) 800m or so approach from the track on Cranoe Rd. along the Leicestershire round path through a field which happily has wheat rather than curious cattle in it this year. Lovely views from the pillar at N 52 32 440 W 000 54.149

Parked like others in rough lane to the north west. This route up is actually on the Leicestershire Round. Easy ascent, loads of bullocks in the first field but they ran a mile when I closed the gate. Great views on a hot sunny day.

A grey, breezy and mild early morning after night of heavy rain. Pleasant walk up from farm track to NW. TP painted white -some time ago -with original plug. Bleached rural views - dull greens and greys - but interesting area.

Easily accessible and highly visible being on at the side of a public footpath. I parked in the gateway on the track to the north-west and just followed the path up. Pillar in good condition and currently has a geocache a couple of feet away. Some excellent views.
