Parked at YHA and walked up the track in the Dale. Past pilgrims cottage and straight up the slope to the top. Trig along field edge to pillar. Met Carol from Huddersfield who was just completing the last of her Shropshire trigpoints. Nice to bump into my first fellow TP bagger. Also nice to have my wife along for a change.

Arrived YHA Wilderhope Manor a bit early so up here to bag the trig and associated Fegg Hill tump. Pleasant walk up from a stunning YHA - Elizabethan Grade I listed NT property, not the warmest hostel we've been in but at 22 for a private room for the night def not complaining. Pillar, replacement for Larden Grange, in good condition; FB facing into wire fence - fair bit of thorn and other vegetation needed clearing to access it. Original cap in place, indented lettering; 1 sight hole open; vestiges of white paint job evident. Almost 360deg views, slightly restricted NE by Moggforest.

No sign of the foundations of the original pillar - assume it was slightly further into the field where it might have been an obstruction to agricultural equipment.

A new low number. The view is limited now to the north by woodland, but very fine down into Corvedale. Path up through woods (crazy name, Mogg Forest - no cats or calves though) from the north was very muddy and slippery. Many pheasants. Pillar in good condition and intact. Possibly 11444 - replaced old pillar S1994 which was nearby.
