(1152) Parked up at the bottom on Folly Way, and from there it was a quick jump over the low-ish fence to the pillar. Painted up as a 'minion' it certainly stands out. Not sure if I'm a fan, to be honest, but I'll not lose any sleep over it either. Located within touching distance of the new build estate, so I'm happy it survives at all. Pillar history: Built on the 18th of April 1937, at a cost of 4 1s 6d. Last maintained by the OS in August of 1985.

Right on a public right of way so easy to locate and access. Very brightly painted and I thought it looked good. Very reasonable views to the west just a few steps away. Visited while on a long term Durham to Dorset walk.

Parked in Wordsworth Rd and walk up and around to the Trig Stn. passing a brightly painted stone post on the way to this even more brightly painted pilla. Nearby housing development appears i encroaching on the trig stn

With thanks to a fellow trig collector for the tip - yes a good paint job. Note - either get a gps or learn to read a map - spent an hour wandering the wrong hill alarming dog walkers with my strange requests for assistance. On to YSP afterwards - copper sulphate apartment, Deer Shelter - excellent.

Saw John Woolley's photos and being quite fond of Minions had to visit this pillar. A diversion on the way home from the Yorkshire Sculpture Park to bag it after a day out with my new boyfriend, who probably thinks I'm a bit weird for dragging him around to find a strange lump of concrete. :D

An easy Sunday evening stroll to find this one accessing via the worst maintained footpath in Barnsley. From the trig point it is a great panoramic view over Barnsley and Oakwell the home of my beloved Barnsley FC. All in all an easy trig point bag on a sunny Sunday evening.

Walked over from Ardsley trig. Fine position on ridge with good views W. Trig covered in various colours of paint. Staffy Bull Terrier tried to walk off with my sarny here...on to Barugh Hill.

Quite close to home for me - I used to work at the glass factory at Monk Bretton so a bit of a homage. Did a ten miler parking at Dearne Valley Park and touring up to Staincross, taking in a bit of the TPT and the Barnsley Canal. Access is sooo easy follow the public footpath sign near the Pheasant pub and it's on the path behind the res. Surprise of the day - you can see Upton water tower from the top (the high point of the Went valley where I live).

Visible and easily accessible at side of public footpath. I parked near the cross and went up the reservoir road to join the enclosed path at the side of the cricket ground. This took me directly to the pillar. Unfortunately it has been subjected to some paint and gaffiti - but hey its still there and standing proud. Not the best location for views, too enclosed.

I agree that it is a surprise that the plug has remained intact on this one given all the other abuse the trig seems to have suffered. It looks like its been in a slapstick show with red and white paint poured over it. My first time in Barnsley and its true everyone speaks like Michael Parkinson.

One sighting hole open; plug intact but splashed with paint. This would be a good spot if it wasn't for the graffiti and broken glass scattered around. Scenic views of Barnsley.
