This was my best trig pointing walk in Wales, outside of the Snowdonia National Park, to date. I started off by following the coast path west from Cemaes Bay: past Wylfa Head, the nature reserve at Cemlyn Bay and, over the rocky promontory of Carmel Head, before at last making it up Mynydd-Y-Garn. Mile after mile of rolling farmland of the Isle of Anglesey was laid out before me to the south and beyond, the mountains of mainland North Wales stretched out along the horizon from the Carneddau in the east, right through to Bardsey Island at the tip of the Lleyn Peninsula. It seemed like it should have also been clear enough to view Ireland to the west, but alas, not quite clear enough.

The most striking sight (aside from the Irish ferry, Anglesey Aluminium chimney and Snowdonia) is Wylfa power station. Apparently Wylfa is earmarked for a new nuke as the current one will soon become a monument to 1950's "energy will be too cheap to meter" Britain. as of summer 2010 there are several houses close to the Wylfa site boarded up apparently as a result of local government speculation that Wylfa II is on the cards. :-(
