Parked at the north west end of a lane which becomes a muddy track. Then south west along a footpath between houses at first for about 200 metres, descending a little. Through gate into field. Then left, south east up to and along field boundary. After about three hundred metres under barbed wire fence, pillar visible across field about 130 metres north east of the hedge. Exposed to view from properties to north east and north west but fairly distant. Bit of a car and farm clutter grave yard. A few cows about, they looked up but didn’t approach. Didn’t hang around. Spider and cap in place. Reasonable views to the south. OS map gives name as one word.

I started out early this morning as i wanted to bag this Trig first as others have had problems getting to it. The trip was very straight forward at 5.21am. I followed the same path as everyone else. The wood blocking the access hole was not there and no cows in the filed as well. Around the TP is some derelict caravans and quite a lot of farming junk. Ok views if you look away from the house.

From N on RoW initially, then across arable field and through field boundary hedgerow / wire fencing. After which in view of farm house but no challenge. Original cap retained, lightly indented lettering; RHD side sight hole sealed, other 3 open. Limited farmland views.

Took the public footpath from the N, then skirted around the field edge along the hedge until we came in line with the solitary tree. The location of the trig is circled on the attached satellite image. Couldn't find a way through the hedge to the E side of the hedge. The gap in the hedge (as described by the previous logger) has been blocked up with wood. The field on the E side of the hedge was completely overgrown with thistle & used as a dumping ground / junk yard, could not see the trig anywhere, so we did not even attempt to cross over to the E side of the hedge. We will return in the winter season. * * * Revisited 24 January 2016: I think the gap in the hedge that's blocked up with wood is the best access across the hedge to the E side. However we were faced with a dozen very curious cows today, so we did not even attempt it. No chance of getting near the trig with those cows around, so resolved to have this one marked as unreachable but visible. Just about able to see the trig from the hedge, 120m away.

pretty straightforward considering the furtive and tentative nature of earlier posts. down the Bridleway to the west, across the stubly, flinty field to the field boundary to the west of the trig where there is a gap in the hawthorn hedge where it's pretty easy to get over off under the single stand of barbed wire and across to the trig.

Very frustrating this one. Had skirted rear of farm and was 50m from pillar when farmer came and told me to bugger off, even my usual pleading and explaining didnt wash so had to leave. This one is in full view of the farm from all directions. Tried again half hour later from the other side and he was still there!! I will return and wait until it is dark methinks!!

Access to this one was a bit tricky as it is quite close to the farm. We took the bridle track south from Northend, and on reaching the wood skirted around to the top of the hill and approached the trig from the rear. This involved a couple of hundred yard dash in full view of the farm but nobody seemed to notice me (Shane had stayed at the preceding hedgeline to guard my rear!). Plug with indented lettering.
