The mast next to the pillar is visible from miles around. Parked in car park in Princetown behind the National Park information centre. Started off heading west along the old railway line, past the old fire station then north west onto signed footpath. Then a short distance on roads then uphill along back of houses. Obvious path, quite waterlogged ground. Pillar comes into view on top of Tor rock to east of mast. Bit of a clamber up. Fantastic views although slightly spoiled by anchor wires for the mast. English Channel visible towards south west, possibly Plymouth Sound. Raised S prefix. Spider and cap in place. Afterwards visited the National Park information centre. Very helpful people. Discovered the Dartmoor 365 book, oh dear, another list of places to tick off. Also visited the Prison Museum.

Walked footpath from Princetown car park. Following wall side north towards mast we couldn't see. Very mist, raining and blowing a bit now, normal Dartmoor weather. Must be a fantastic location on a better day.

Visited with meltdiceburg towards the end of a lengthy geocaching walk Dartmoor featuring Foggintor Quarries, King's Tor, Swelltor Quarry, the old railway track towards Princetown, North Hessary tor and Hollow Tor. A nice rocky setting and some good views - it's just a pity the mast is so dominant!

Visited on a circular walk with Alma Aurea, Kings Tor and then back over North Hessary. Trig on a nice rocky Tor but easily accessible. A pity the mast dominates the view.

Parked at the end of the mast road and walked up to trigpoint which is in open access land. Lots of mast work going on but no one around today all cordons on the ground but I suspect in the week the trig will not be accessible for the time being.

About a mile on track from Princetown public car park (£1). Hot, clear and crisp under foot, stunning position on top of tor with Dartmoor stretching out in all directions. Being under the support cables for an enormous telecommunications mast lets it down a bit.

An earlyish start in stupendous weather cracking this one before breakfast in the Old Police Station Café in Princetown, which also hosts one of the best pubs on Dartmoor in the Plume of Feathers.

What a cracking day to be up here - even the adjacent TV mast looked quite elegant against a clear blue sky! Extensive all round views and an easy walk up from the bottom of the private road to the mast. N and S s/holes open, metal cap shallow letters, vgc.

Have visited and passed by many many times over the years with letterboxing and geocaching, as well as when completing the Perambulation of the Ancient Boundary of Dartmoor in 2010. Passed by again today on route to more geocaches on a day with very blustery winds but excellent visibility in all directions.

Pillar on granite outcrop adjacent to communications station, masts and other paraphenalia. Original plug with slightly-indented letters. Two sight holes open, others closed. No paint. Flush bracket has 'raised S'. Lovely all-round views including nice one of Princetown prison. Easy access via trackway.

Nice trip over Dartmoor taking in North Hessary Tor and Cox Tor trigs, then onto Brentor Church. This trigs position would look more attractive if the mast wasn't right next to it.

Nice day but very windy. Brilliant view all over Dartmoor. We can see the TV mast on this Tor from our house in Saltash. Sheltered under the overhanging Tor and had lunch out of the wind. (Height:1685ft)

I walked up the access road to the transmitter station but this is not the PROW. The pillar stands atop a block of granite. Good views all around if you can ignore the mast.
