Parked outside holiday accommodation “The Cluns House” on the Port Eynon Rd A4118and followed the direct PRW along the lane opposite the parking spot, luckily I had read earlier visit reports and decided to take Wellington Boots and this was definitely the right decision because although the weather was fine the first section of the lane is a very wet and deepish running stream and the following two fields are muddy, the path passes an old abandoned farmhouse and continues through a kissing gate and enters the field with the trig in clear view, the field had been a crop of corn which had been harvested so was easy to cross but again muddy, the trig is slightly damaged with a horizontal crack at the level of the sight hole, the spider, flush bracket and original centre plug are all in place and the views on this day were very good.

Also parked at Pilton Green farm track crossing road to footpath to Paviland Farm. The footpath through the farm is not the same as the mapped route, it now goes between the large building and up the farm track. We had to ask the lady in the farm office for directions. The trig point is now standing in a field of Sweetcorn luckily no yet fully grown.

My least favourite pillar on the Gower peninsula. I had trouble parking anywhere near it (eventually settling for the Pilton Green farm track up the road to the west), and the long walk to the trig involved an extremely muddy 250m (approx) footpath. Pillar itself is in a ploughed field, which meant yet more mud. A decent view only goes part way to redeeming this unspectacular trig in an unpleasant-to-access location.

There were no crops so it was easy to directly walk through the fields to the trigpoint. Good views inland but can't see much of the coast from the trigpoint. Took the coast path back to Port Eynon.

An absolute nightmare to find at this time of year (August). The public footpaths were covered by high corn plants. The trig was hidden. Had almost given up when I finally found it. No views, just corn all around it. Path from the south had a little river running down it, so muddy and boggy. Spotted it by chance on my OS app whilst near Culver Hole, looked like a nice easy one to bag but it was anything but!

Well the farmer knows how to turn over a field alright! Walked up from the end of Overton lane, path starts off okay but ends up quite wet as a little stream seems to run down the track. FP leads off to the left and then through the edge of a ploughed field. Look north and you'll see the remains of an old chimney, old farmhouse. Pass this and the Trig is in the next ploughed field. Trig is slightly undercut as the ploughing has run up to its edge. Flush bracket, Spider and Plug all in place and Trig looks in good condition despite the undercutting !!

All paths to, through, and around that field where the trig point is, are overgrown, cycled up from the SW on the cycle track from Bay View Path which was extremely muddy. Approached it from Littlehills and then past the deralict building. Lots of nettles and undergrowth to take your skin off. Maybe OK when and if the harvest is done.

A nightmare to get to, but reasonable views once there. I approached from the N on the path from Margam Cottage. This path is now a jungle of brambles, ferns, ivy and other plants designed to trip you up and inflict damage. I retreated and came back the next day from the S. This track was more of a river than a track, the fields on the top were mud baths, and the cattle looked at me very strangely. I was glad to see the back of it, and I don’t think that about many trigs.

First field no problem, second field full of mad horses chased me back out, so followed a non footpath route in adjacent field, field 3 full of mad cows, calfs and a bull! again chased me! eventually made my way to Pillar, which is in good condition and sitting on ROW in freshly cut hay, route back to avoid crazy animals, down to Overton this path is a stream and is a bog, so wet feet!! - All in a days trig-pointing :)
