Driving through Harlech to our proposed parking spot near Cwm Bychan (SH64584 31441, approx) we experienced travelling upwards along the steepest street in the northern hemisphere.(Did some research afterwards and apparently there is a steeper street in New Zealand.) Engaged first gear and very pleased not to meet any oncoming traffic, as I was not sure if our clutch plate could manage a hill start. Happy to part with £3 in the honesty box for a lovely place to park. Followed the Roman Steps before a short lunch break beside Llyn Du. Then a fairly steep climb up to the trig and superb vista that is much better than my photos show.

Cloud cleared for a very short spell to reveal views of Porthmadog. Descended via another route to the east between 2 steep sided rocks on a route NOT on the OS maps, but one that shows up on the Geocaching App, but lived to regret it. Very steep and after 40 minutes my right foot went down one of the many deep holes and I snapped my right ankle tendon. Took another 4 hours to get down on my bum. Spoiled the whole day. Stick to proper paths Dylan please.

Glorious sunny day but windy. Round the Llyn and up to the TP. Traditional stone build. FB and plug missing. Excellent 360 views. Descent down southern slope - tricky in very deep heather and no defined path found by us. Again heading up the North side of Fach - no real defined path just grabbing clumps of heather and scrabbling, especially bottom section. gets easier two thirds of the way up ! Walked out to the summit cairn at 712m. A little further and the views over Llyn Hywel superb. Planned to continue out to Diffwys but the long heather won the day and descent came via a similar route to the ascent but a better defined path found when descending. Two lovely summits with a lot less traffic than the rest of Snowdonia.
