Well following on from our eventful stop at Beacon Hill, a sad one - my first logging of a definitely destroyed trig where not even a cairn etc. remains (unlike Pen y Fan). Wouldn't normally bother but the effort to find (didn't read the logs stupid me) means I might as well. Quite an unworldly place with the curls of threatening grey cloud and the high Pennine plateau giving a near coastal feel of strange distance. One other slight compensation - GPO benchmark (minus plate) but still with "ft" on the concrete on the road near the nursery.

You can stand on the original location, definitely not here, quarry is being filled in and the are lots of places where it could be, including at the bottom! - I walked right round the area, thinking where would I of put it if I was told to move it away from the edge of the quarry. No luck - who knows may be it will re-emerge!

It looks like this one has finally been swallowed up in to the ever expanding quarry nearby. I drove past on West Lane today and the trig, which was always clearly visible from the road, was no longer there - just evidence of freshly turned earth and quarrying activities. Maybe the next visitor to the trig could confirm its fate?
