KJ Today on a 8.75m circuit on Cannock Chase with my eldest taking in this whitewashed trig on its plinth (which is easily visible from the other side of the river valley) for the first time. A warm sunny day requiring my first sun cream of the year.

just short of a mile of gravel tracks cycled from the Rugeley to Penkridge road . Numbered in the 29xx series that are without the preceding "S" on the FB. On way to research access and viewing point for Commonwealth Games mountain biking on Wednesday.

Parked in the car park at 'rifle range corner' off Penkridge Bank. Took the public right of way (PRoW) from there up to the pillar. There is a minor chip to the top of the pillar. Great setting within Cannock Chase Country Park

re-visit. About a mile ride on gravel road from shooting butt corner. On plinth and one of the 29** series that have no "s" on the FB. I disagree with condition given on website.The car parks beside the road from Rugeley were all packed with cars.

FB E, open sight W. Just come from Glaicer Boulder in 25 mins. I think the fastest I've been between two trigpoints on foot and I've enjoyed the walk from there. With good views on route.

A struggle up hill on bike on final stretch to Trig,on short plynth .A small herd of deer in heather good views.Its now time to bike to car at Castle Ring,,Phew stick to walking on Trigpoint hunts.

A pleasant circular walk from the White House car park to the south and along the beautiful Sherbrook Valley, although if you do the last quarter of a mile back to the car park along the road be careful - the traffic moves fast. The tp is in a commanding location overlooking heathland. Must be getting on for 30 years since I was last here, and its great to be back

Good views. I walked here from Brocton Field TP, not the most direct route, but I did startle a couple of young deer only a few feet away. Im not sure who jumped the most. Finally got to the trig for a quick log.

On the east side of the Cannock Chase country park, on edge of major plantation. OK condition. Definitely no S with the number, but not a primary, even though numbers either side ARE primaries (Wirswall and Blakemere) Resin plug. Public. ADD ON I think The Butts is a Substitute Primary, replacing the defunct Castle Ring (Old)

Once hemmed in on most sides by trees, the view is reappearing. Trees were being felled nearby during my visit. I expect the recently numbered pillar across the Sherbrook Valley was a replacement due to visibility problems. (no.. It was a simple rebuild) Pillar is painted a light green and has a plastic plug replacement. It is on a concrete plinth. Recent visit 3/5/04. More trees have gone since last November.. Views have opened up well. Lovely spring day
