A stone-built replacement pillar for Yr Eifl sharing the same FB number as its predecessor. And the same, or similar, names perhaps? The 2 names have a similar sound to each other despite their spellings, and this new one perhaps 'rivalled' the old pillar as they most likely stood side-by-side for a short period with this pillar being computed June 1961 and Yr Eifl being destroyed October of the same year. Maybe there was some punning going on here, or maybe just my imagination. The pillar has an adornment cemented into, and protruding from, the central tube; rear sight hole open. Most likely there are wonderful panoramic views to be had, but not today.

Never the best climb when it's up a concave slope but very much worth it. I been meaning to ascend Y Eifl for many years. Still need to do the other two. Strange to have the iron work cemented into the plug. Recent cycle training has improved the leg power no end. Great views if not a little hazy in all directions. Classic acidic fine grained intrusion - white patina on rock fragments gives it all away.

A cloudy, breezy day but only the summit was hidden in the cloud. No photo of the strange trig attachment as the mobile has a glitch (only fixed it on way down).
