Huge ancient burial mound at the summit, surmounted by a toposcope, with the trig slightly off to one side. Pillar has some damage to the top edges which has exposed the end of one of the spider arms, hence have classified it 'slightly damaged'. 2 sight holes open; cap missing as is the asphalt plug of which a residue remains. Tinto is a very prominent hill in the area, it can be seen for miles around and consequently there are excellent 360deg views from the summit.

First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed in August 1936 with flush bracket S1602. Following a rebuild completed 21st May 1954 costing 45.2s.6d, new flush bracket S8052 was fitted. In 1937 this marker was computed as primary station PP318 in Figure 3 of the OSGB36 Retriangulation network. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1958. This station was last maintained in September 1976. Long views in all directions.

Up the Scaut Hill Ridge.. A good way up that should be used, if only to educate the goml that has since besmirched it. Monster cairn of Irish proportions, even has its own ring contour on the 1:25k map
