We were doing an OS Pathfinder walk at Leighton Moss so added this TP on afterwards. Parked up at the quarry and followed the marked path up and around the workings. Followed the Long Path signed upwards to the summit over some very nice exposed limestone scars Finally passed through a small jungle before coming to the clearing with the Pillar. No views from the actual TP, but a short distance past the beacon is a ledge with very nice views of the expanse of Morecambe Bay with Blackpool Tower visible in the distance. Followed the path back down to the edge of the quarry then continued on the Short Path around and back down to the car park. Couple of very nice beers in The Old School Brewery and George Washington pubs afterwards.

One of eleven trigs bagged in the Lancaster Morcambe area, on the way to Kendal. This was the eleventh. Parked in the free car park behind the George Washington pub. The village has strong links to George Washington and several generations of his family. One relative was a rector at the church and is buried there. I followed the path uphill out of the car park and found my way to the top. The pillar is in a wooded area alongside the beacon. Good views of the bay on the way up. Once at the top, it's just a few metres to be clear of the trees for south lake lakeland and bay views. The pillar is in generally good condition but has some minor damage to the top and the centre of the spider is missing.

The top of the limestone scar nearby is a good viewpoint as is the footpath above the quarry which is home to a noisy colony of corvids. The only downside here is a healthy tick population, one of which i needed to brush off my arm before it found a spot to settle down to breakfast. Limestone is very slippy in the wet so best for a dry day.

Parked in a small car park on minor road just out of Warton to the North.A group of local walkers assured me that this was the best approach. The path was rocky and quite slippery in the damp conditions. The pillar and beacon are well hidden on this approach and took a bit of finding.Very good views out over the estuary. I must have missed johnoneill1916 by about an hour.

Unlike most I accessed this from the bridleway to the north, which was simple enough. If were rating the view from the actual trig, well its pretty rubbish as its surrounded by foilage. A few yards to the SW theres a rocky outcrop where theres a terrific view over Morcambe Bay and to the Lake District hills. Todays haze prevented any real detail to the north so Id expect the score to rise in better conditions.
